The blade is 1095 cro-van steel and it shares the same Grivory handle as it's big brother, the BK-7, and probably the BK-9. The blade is at least a quarter inch thick!! Monster! The blade measures 5.5 inches long and the knife measures 10.5 inches long overall. It comes with a hard plastic Kydex sheath with a nylon web belt loop that is removeable if you wish to use the integrated lashing slots to attach it to whatever you desire. It can also be purchased with a Heavy-Duty Polyester sheath with front pocket, similar to my BK-7 sheath.
If you prefer a leather sheath, they can be found on evilbay, where I purchased mine. The BK-2 sits deep within the sheath to eliminate a keeper strap.
1095 Cro-Van Steel is an easy to sharpen, plain carbon steel used in knife making. Proven to be one of the most popular steels used in KA-BAR knives. Here is an excellent review on YouTube.
I bought mine from Amazon as it was the best price I could find at the time. It's not cheap at $72.98 (free shipping) but you get what you pay for and it is made in the USA. It now resides in my GHB along with my Mora.
Scout,I have their TacTool. Being in the city a sharp pry bar may come in handy.

I have looked at the TacTool but I have something along those lines already. I am planning a post on it soon.
DeleteMy husband and son have the knife bug and I will admit it is rubbing off on me also. This looks good!

ReplyDeleteDon't underestimate the BK-2's capabilities in the kitchen. I got a slice of tomato thin enough to see through once, using the BK-2. Was a test to see what I could make it do. Whittled a toothpick with it once, too. Another test.
ReplyDeleteThis knife can do just about anything the hand holding it can do with knives.
I really like the Kabar hunting knives. Always carry them for my outdoors survival trip.
