Just another reason not to keep money in the bank.

Invest it in food!

Hang on to your Ass!

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051
specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

This could be some scary Sh**

  1. Dude, get a grip.

You say "a wall street journal columnist has advised people to start stockpiling food"?

Can you back that up with something other than a worldnetdaily.com article with no byline?

Google news gives no hits for "wall street journal columnist advises people to start stockpiling food", for example.

This feels like bullcrap to me. I can find zero evidence, other than on a retailer's website, that the feds are buying non-perishable food supplies.

Can you direct me to any sort of evidence that this is happening?

Right now, it looks like some web retailer is trying to jack up sales by giving people the false impression that there's shortages of long-term storage food.

    But, please, prove me wrong.

    Load Up the Pantry

I don't want to alarm anybody, but maybe it's time for Americans to start stockpiling food.

No, this is not a drill.

You've seen the TV footage of food riots in parts of the developing world. Yes, they're a long way away from the U.S. But most foodstuffs operate in a global market. When the cost of wheat soars in Asia, it will do the same here.

Reality: Food prices are already rising here much faster than the returns you are likely to get from keeping your money in a bank or money-market fund. And there are very good reasons to believe prices on the shelves are about to start rising a lot faster.

"Load up the pantry," says Manu Daftary, one of Wall Street's top investors and the manager of the Quaker Strategic Growth mutual fund. "I think prices are going higher. People are too complacent. They think it isn't going to happen here. But I don't know how the food companies can absorb higher costs." (Full disclosure: I am an investor in Quaker Strategic)

  4. Unfortunately, I think our government is doing a lot of things they don't want you to know about and I seriously doubt if they are going to admit it, even if they get caught doing it. The best thing is to not take any chances and keep on prepping.

  5. For me it more like: the Gov can't prevail in most situations and will fail to protect us but they will protect themselves.
