Filling Your Plate: Part IV - Crock Pot Recipes

 I love my crockpots. How else can you reliably toss your ingredients in a pot, turn it on and come back to a fully cooked dinner 8 hours later? Of course if the power goes out you will have some issues. But those issues will most likely encompass items other than just your crockpot and dinner!

 I currently have 3 large ones (4 qt+) and 1 smaller 1 quart that I have had for years. It only has the low setting by design. They are used frequently and and help make dinner easier on me after a long day at work. An idea that I have been toying with is to freeze all the uncooked ingredients together with the seasonings ahead of time to make it even faster to put together a meal. Spend a Sunday afternoon combining stuff and you are good to go for a week or longer.

  1. I bought the boxes of crock pot liners from Sams Club. We have made the meals in the bags, and frozen them in the crock (to keep the crock shape). Then seal with a bag tie. When you want that food for dinner, take out of the freezer, slip into the crock set to cook and leave the house. When you get back, it is done. It works nicely.

  4. I love beef brisket cooked in crock pot.
    Sometimes in winter we cook beef brisket in cast iron dutch oven in fireplace.
    Yum.
